a closeup of a teasel plant stem

Teasel Tower

I didn’t even know that teasels did this! I was walking by on a rainy day, peeked in, saw these little stacked cisterns, and knew that it would make a good picture–if I could get it right.

It took me several tries over two different sessions, but I’m delighted with result. This is a great picture–if you like this sort of thing. /8^>

What a bystander would see:
teasel tower, bystander photo(I did some research, and it seems we don’t really know for sure the purpose of those water containers. In one study, they dropped dead bugs into the water, which resulted in more seeds, so teasels may be partially carnivorous. Given the teasel’s theme of angular spikyness, this seems fitting.)
