Thankfully, the posture of this magnificent old tree makes it photogenic. I just wandered around underneath, looking up, until I found “the right place to stand”–although in this case, I laid down on the grass and put my head where my feet had been, so that I could keep the camera steadier (and get further away for the best view).
I consider this my first really good photograph. (I had a lot of help from the tree.)
