closeup of marsh plant seed pods

Bashful

I almost discarded this one. I took it because it had seemed… interesting–a perky little clump of grass, all by itself out there in the wet land. Then back home, I started cropping, one careful slice at a time, getting rid of extraneous material. –Problem was, I just kept cutting away. Was there really anything here worth an extended gaze?

Then suddenly I realized that the main event wasn’t the texture of the vertical blades, but those funny little burrs, hiding in there. Now it made sense.

I called it “Bashful,” because they seem to me like cute kids peeking out from behind their parents legs to see the visitor.

This one just makes me laugh.
