Caught

This poor soul hangs here until it comes apart. And tough old, oak leaves last a long time. It has already been pinned for weeks, and since this was taken in mid-summer, it has probably been held captive for months–if not since winter or even last fall. It first opened from the bud, fresh and tender, last spring, so has seen much since way back then.

What the camera saw:
caught, as shot(This doubles as the bystander photo.)

They say that fairy tales help children deal with adult issues. Many of my “found still lifes” serve a similar purpose–portraying serious, difficult, or traumatic situations under cover of the commonplace and unremarkable.
