three empty flagpoles against a dark, dramatic sky

To the War No One Won

The flag poles stand empty,
For there is no one left who cares.
The breathing wrestle with the dogs of war,
Who now have a new comrade, that hubris loosed upon the world–
Henceforth forever maimed.
