No Room in the Inn [BW]

Is it even possible
In a world mechanical
For matter to be meaningful,
The whole more than the parts?

Although it is uncomf’rtable,
Might it be as reas’nable:
Reality’s contextual,
Creation living art?

This opens possibilities,
Instead of mindless emptiness,
For sacramental mysteries
And hope against the dark.

I think the black and white version is best, but the color has merit also, so here it is:

side door and boarded-up window of an abandoned church building [color]

And she brought forth her firstborn son; and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger [that is, a feeding trough], because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke.2.7, ASV)
